It’s time to start thinking about booking your Milk Quality Consult.
We are rolling out our great new user friendly online Milk Quality Consult (MQC) platform that is designed to facilitate the process to ensure we are asking you the right questions – we want to do everything we can to help you make the right decisions for your herd.
What’s new?
Instead of a paper copy, you will receive your MQC invitation via email to register online; this is where you will enter your 2019/2020 season mastitis data. Your information will be automatically uploaded for your vet to see at the time of your MQC. At the end of the MQC you will be emailed the report immediately with the recommendations and prescription.
We have already trialled it with our Autumn herds and it has been a great success. Please be patient with us as we transition to this new process.
But I do a consult every year, why do I have to do another consult?
Your MQC is the best time to have a focussed milk quality discussion with your vet; reviewing the season so far and planning drying off and strategies for next season. We want to help you achieve mastitis goals for your herd; reducing mastitis, lowering cell count or cutting antibiotic usage. Your vet will be able to advise you on the best course of action to help you achieve your goals. If things are going well and you are achieving your goals the consult may be brief!
Ask your vet about a Dairy Antibiogram Test (DAB). The results from your herd’s DAB are invaluable in the Milk Quality Consult helping us decide if you are taking the right approach with your antibiotic usage.
