Join Anexa Veterinary Services in a Senior Veterinary Nurse role as part of our Te Kauwhata team. This is a varied role where you will be an integral part of the day to day running of the clinic, supporting veterinarians, and providing exceptional care to clients and their animals.

About us

Anexa Veterinary Services has 11 veterinary clinics across the Waikato and Hauraki Plains providing services to family pets, and both dairy and drystock farmers. Each of our clinics is unique but at Anexa we are one team.

About the clinic and team

Our Te Kauwhata clinic is a brand new, purpose-built clinic only 40 minutes from Hamilton CBD, It is a rewarding place to work and provides services to both companion animal and large animal clients. We are excited to have someone new join us in this venture and to work closely with our small animal clients and their pets. There are significant opportunities to continue to develop your veterinary nursing career within this team and the wider business and to make your mark in the Te Kauwhata community.

The team is made up of 2 Veterinary Nurses, 3 Customer Service Persons, 3 Companion Animal Veterinarians and 1 Production Animal Veterinarian.

The clinic is equipped with:

  • Idexx haematology and biochemistry in-house blood machine
  • Anaesthetic monitoring equipment including ECG, pulse oximetry, apnoea alert, temperature probe and blood pressure measurement
  • Digital x-rays and ultrasound
  • Two consulting rooms, a large treatment room and a separate sterile surgery room
  • Separate dog ward and cat ward, plus separate isolation room
  • Full dental imaging and diagnostic suite


About the role

You will be the first port of call for our vets during consults and surgery and you will be integral to managing client relationships. Surgical support, anaesthesia, patient monitoring, and treatment, admitting and discharging pets and communicating with clients will be the main priorities of this role along with assisting veterinarians with consults. Nurse consults e.g. post-operative checks, dental checks etc are also an important aspect that we would like to grow.

There are significant development opportunities available in this role. You will play a valuable part in developing the breadth and efficiency of our day to day companion animal services and our other vet nurses while being well-supported with ongoing clinical CPD (both internal and external). Anexa recognises the importance of supporting our nurses to continually grow their clinical knowledge and skill set.

About you

You will be a team player who isn’t afraid to go the extra mile when needed. You will be confident in surgical nursing and general nursing tasks and enjoy the customer service and working in a smaller team. You will be a qualified and experienced Vet Nurse, ideally with at least 3 years experience in a similar role. You will value fostering good relationships with clients and colleagues, enjoy having fun at work and supporting your team.
