Seasonal Large Animal Technician – Calf Disbudding

Every year from July – October, Anexa Vets employs a group of large animal technicians to provide calf disbudding services. Due to seasonal variation, the exact start date of this role varies year to year, but once it’s all go, it’s all on, working with our littlest herd members.

Our seasonal technicians work in teams, providing an effective and efficient service to our farming community. Each team is headed up by an experienced team leader providing invaluable support to their teammates to complete in all steps of the calf disbudding process, including application of local anesthetic, and disbudding with cautery (hot) irons. All calves are sedated for this procedure. We pride ourselves on best practice disbudding techniques, as well as ensuring high welfare standards for the calves are met.

Applicants need to be available Monday – Friday and will work varied hours. A good work ethic, reliability, cattle handling skills, and above all, a can-do attitude is required. Vet Tech qualifications are not essential. Full training is provided to ensure the process of calf disbudding is done to the high standards Anexa is known for. The job can sometimes be physically demanding, so base strength and fitness are essential.
