Anexa is one of New Zealand’s largest veterinary businesses, operating multiple clinics across the greater Waikato and Hauraki Plains and Cognosco, an internationally recognised research division. The key areas of research are fertility and mastitis of dairy cattle.
Cognosco, the research division of Anexa, undertakes applied research with the objective of providing farmers, veterinarians and policy makers with timely, relevant and accurate information to improve animal health, welfare and production outcomes. Cognosco has a close association with clinical veterinarians and the many dairy, beef and sheep and other clients of the clinical business. This ensures the ongoing relevance and practical nature of the team. Cognosco has been operating for more than 20 years and has undertaken more than 200 on-farm research studies predominantly in the areas of mastitis, fertility and nutrition of dairy cattle, goats and sheep.
We employ Research Technicians in our Cognosco (research) division on a casual basis to work based out of Morrinsville clinic and in the wider geographic region. The main responsibility of these positions will be supporting senior research technicians on farm, collecting samples and recording results during research projects, with the opportunity to provide support in other areas.
Successful applicants will have some general farming knowledge, experience in handling cattle, and be able to:
- Work collaboratively with a team
- Safely work with dairy cattle
- Accurately record data on farm
- Be competent in or be willing to learn sampling techniques for pasture samples, feed stuffs, milk and blood. Training in all procedures will be provided.
- Clearly communicate with colleagues and farmers
- Follow and give clear instructions.
It is essential that you are flexible with your hours of work, are a team player, are reliable and timely and can effectively communicate with people. You must hold a valid current NZ driver’s licence and the right to work in New Zealand.
