Five things to organise before the festive season begins

No Vaccination – No Vacancy! If you are putting your dog or cat into a boarding kennel, then their vaccinations need to be up to date. If your pet’s vaccinations are not current, they will not be allowed into the kennels or cattery, and this could seriously mess up your holiday plans.  NOW is the time to check your pet’s vaccination records and book an appointment if your pet’s vaccinations are due before January.

Medication supplies. If your pet is on medication, it is a good idea to ensure that you have sufficient supplies for the holiday period. It is sometimes difficult to get a repeat script from the local clinic at your holiday destination, so it is preferable that this be done by your regular Vet who will be more familiar with your pet’s condition.

Pet food. A quality food can have great benefits for you and your pet, pop into your local Vet to stock up and your favourite Vet recommended food and treats. Remember not all human food is healthy for pets!

Flea and worm treatments. Come summer, the flea population explodes and these little parasites can become a real issue. Talk to our staff to choose a product that best suits your pets needs and treat your pet as per instructions to break the flea cycle.

Microchip check. Ensure your pet’s microchip details are registered with NZCAR . If you are already registered, we recommend logging on and checking your current contact details.
