Below are some easy tips that you can put in place to help your cat, and create a more pleasant experience
- Desensitize your cat to the carrier cage – place the carrier in a central area of the house with the door/lid open. Work up to placing the cat’s food in the carrier so he/she chooses to go in and explore the surroundings.
- Once familiar with the cage, take your cat on a couple of short trips in the car around the block and home again.
- Place a towel or blanket over the cage when bringing your cat into your local Anexa clinic,to help your cat feel safe and secure, and stop dogs and people from peering into the cage or hassling the cat.
- Sit your cat on a higher surface off the ground cats prefer to be up high as this helps them feel safe.
- Consider a natural ‘calming’ product such as Feliway (which is a pheromone based product). If your cat is particularly unhappy visiting their Vet, this could help them feel safe.
