Celebrating with Dr Richard Munn – Congratulations on becoming certified in veterinary pharmacology

Sep 16, 2022 | Cognosco, News, Working at Anexa

We want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate our colleague Dr Richard Munn’s most recent achievement. Richard recently passed the final board examinations for the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology (ACVCP). As a result, we are proud and privileged to have the only Diplomate of ACVCP in New Zealand working at Cognosco and Anexa Vets.

It has been a bit of a journey to get to this point. First, Richard studied at Massey University, qualifying as a veterinarian in 2010. He then gained his MANZCVS (Pharmacology) while in practice at Levin before doing the ACVCP residency at the University of Melbourne from 2018-2020. This included a Master of Veterinary Studies and an ongoing PhD project. He published the following papers at this time:

From here, Richard returned to New Zealand and continued to study for the ACVCP examinations while working at Cognosco.

Richard’s next steps are to apply to register as a specialist in veterinary clinical pharmacology.

Richard’s position at Anexa Vets is unique and varied. His day-to-day job with Cognosco as a research project manager and scientist puts his knowledge to good use. In his role, he organises and is involved in Cognosco’s trial work on-farm and collaborates closely with our laboratory and IT teams.

Richard is also an integral part of the Anexa companion animal team. Richard shares his pharmacological knowledge with the broader practice, particularly in more complex cases. As an experienced veterinarian, he supports vets in the Morrinsville and other Anexa clinics when needed – Anexa clients may meet Richard at a consult when he fills in during a small animal clinic or performs their pet’s surgery. We appreciate and value Richard’s team player attitude, depth of knowledge and willingness to share.

Congratulations Richard, on achieving this hard earnt goal; we celebrate with you and support you in future endeavours.
