Sheep 

• Prelamb drench – discuss with your vet for individual farm advice
• Prelamb clostridial vaccines given
• Prepare exit drench if using long-acting drench products
• B12 and selenium supplementation given prelamb, copper if deficient
• Prepare lambing kit –  appropriately dispose of any expired products
• Early docking preparation- order scabby mouth vaccine, ensure fly control handy 

 

Young Cattle 

• Trace element testing, liver biopsy (best) or bloods 
• Mineral supplementation, consider long lasting copper boluses, all-trace bolus 
• Lungworm drench, flukicide 
• BVD, lepto vaccinations 
• Weighed and BCS – on target for 2/3 of their adult weight by mating?

 

Breeding Cows 

• Trace element testing – livers at the works? Ask us for the forms
• Copper supplementation complete? (bolus or injection)
• Lice treatment 
• Fluke treatment 
• Annual clostridial, lepto, rotovirus vaccinations 2-4 weeks before calving
• Magnesium supplementation starting 2-4 weeks before calving – consider magnesium boluses
• Calving kit ready
• Order NAIT tags for calves early!
