Now is a good time to consider sitting down with one of our vets to make a new Animal Health Plan, or update your existing Plan. Health plans can be very helpful to have on-farm. It can also be handy to have a copy for employees so they can see what’s going on throughout the year.
The health plan is generally a yearly wall planner broken down by stock class. It outlines the optimal treatments and timing for you to use on the farm. It takes a few hours to talk through options and agree on everything. We will then put in some mahi (work) to get it all on a wall planner.
When creating a health plan our main goal is to improve farm productivity and profitability by:
- Identify and remedy areas where animals are underperforming.
- Getting the most bang for your buck from required animal health treatments.
- Prevent improper use of products that may be unsustainable in the long term, or simply a waste of money.
We can also create animal health plans specifically for youngstock.
