Anexa Vet Club recently held the 2023 Board of Director elections, with three positions to fill.

We look forward to another term with Mike Karl, and welcome new Directors Malcom Edward and Paul Manion to the Board. Congratulations to the successful candidates who were voted in by Vet Club members.

 

Mike Karl, a long-standing Anexa Board member and Hauraki Plains farmer.

Malcom Edward is a dairy sheep farmer and Chartered Accountant from Tahuna. Malcolm has 15 years’ experience in preparing financial statements, auditing, tax, business consulting, and working in leadership teams in a commercial environment.

Paul Manion has worked his way up through the dairy industry and is now an owner operator milking 270 cows in Morrinsville. Paul has a BCom(Ag) from Lincoln University, has completed a Taste of Governance course through the NZID, and is currently completing a one-year Governance course through Massey University.

We thank members Michael McGehan and Megan Owen for standing.

Bruce Thomas, a long-standing Director and Chairman of the Board, has concluded his remarkable 14-year tenure, having served as Chairman for an impressive eight years. The club expressed its sincere gratitude to Bruce for his unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions during his tenure. The 2023/2024 Chairman will be voted in at the next Board Meeting in October.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chairman of Anexa. I always wanted to be a vet but didn’t follow this through. So being involved with the club has been the next best thing.

As farmers we are really fortunate in having a club that is focused on looking after its members. I hope that Anexa can continue to provide preventative care to animals rather than the fire brigade at the bottom of the cliff scenario. 

 I wish the new board all the best for the future along with the leadership team and staff.“

In line with society rules, David Firth has stepped down as an Elected Director due to the sale of his farm. David will remain on the Board as an Independent Director.
